Social Marketing, also called Web 2.0 is where people can interact with other people on the internet. We can give each other helpful tips and encouragement. We can watch what others are doing and implement it into our business. It is about helping and being helped. This is where we can teach and learn.
Social Marketing takes the Internet and makes it personal. There is a real person behind every story. They all have something to share. To help and be helped, that is what social marketing is for. If we share our story and it helps someone, how awesome is that. When we read someone elses story and it helps us, isn't that great as well. We can all benefit from others experiences and share our as well. Our experiences may be just what someone else has been dealing with, can empathise and they feel a connection.
You have a message that you feel is important and you want to tell people about it. How can you do that/ Social Marketing. Whatever you want to talk about, do it in a social marketing site. Tell everyone about it. If it's important to you, tell us.

Here I am a few months after writing the first part of this page. Boy, have I learned a lot since then. It's so easy to go to all these different social sites and promote yourself and what you have going on. I've learned that this is not acceptable and/or tollerated. Being "social" sites means also checking out what others have going on as well as promoting your own stuff. Just like going to any other social event, you must interact with those around you.
Lets say you went to a local event, like a dance or picnic or something like that. You would not go up to everyone there and start telling them all about what you have going on without first asking how they are, how the family is and how life in general is, right? That just isn't being social. So it is with online social sites. In order to not come across as a selfish marketer, you must interact with others on that site.
Every time you post something on any social site, you really should promote 2,3 or even as many as 5 of someone elses stuff. It can be related to what you are talking about or not. That doesn't matter. What matters is that you are being "social". This is the most important part in any social event and the same goes online.
